Eagle LNG, an LNG export facility on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida, USA, has received final approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The facility, for which construction is ongoing, is expected to be operational by 2021.

LNG produced at the facility will be primarily targeted toward the Caribbean and Latin America for power generation, as well as used for local marine applications.

The Jacksonville plant will export approximately 1 million tonnes of LNG per year. The project occupies a194-acre parcel in an area that currently hosts other bulk fuel terminals. The facility will receive natural gas transported by a local utility through existing and expanded pipelines located adjacent to the Jacksonville project site. Eagle LNG will procure electric energy from Jacksonville Electric Authority.

The project is expected to have a processing capacity of 1.5 million gal. of LNG per day, with on-site LNG storage of 12 million gal.
