Emperor Energy Ltd., Sydney, has opened a data room in the hope of attracting potential partners to farm in to appraisal and development of Judith gas field in offshore permit Vic/P47 in the Gippsland basin.

Discussions have commenced under confidentiality agreements with many interested parties and Emperor is confident of finding a partner to facilitate the drilling of the Judith North-1 appraisal well targeting prospective resources in the discovery originally made by Shell Australia in 1989.

Judith North-1 is to be drilled updip from the Judith-1 discovery well.

Emperor currently has 100% interest in the permit which lies 10 km northwest of ExxonMobil Corp.-BHP Group’s Kipper field.

190927 Emperor Judith Map

Judith-1 intersected a gross gas interval of 543.3 m in four discrete gas sands. Net pay was interpreted to be 160 m thickness with reservoir quality described as "modest" due to the presence of argillaceous clasts in sandstone lithology that reduce the permeability. Log interpretation suggested the find contained moveable gas and compared well to the Longtom gas field further to the northwest.

Interpretation of reprocessed seismic data the trap shows the Greater Judith structure to be a hanging wall fault terrace on the main Rosedale fault system of the northern Gippsland basin.

An independent resource statement estimates the 2C resource for the Judith-1 discovery to be 150 bcf of gas, while a P50 unrisked prospective resource for the Greater Judith structure was estimated to be 1.2 tcf.

The Vic/P47 permit was renewed for 5 years in February 2018 with a work program that includes drilling a well in the Judith North structure by early 2021.
