MW ConocoPhillips profit tops estimates

ConocoPhillips (COP) said Tuesday it had net income of $3.1 billion, or $2.74 a share, in the third quarter, up from $1.9 billion, or $1.59 per share, in the year-earlier period. Excluding special items, EPS came to 82 cents a share, ahead of the 72 cents FactSet consensus. The company did not offer a revenue figure in its earnings release. It said production excluding Libya came to 1,322 thousand barrels of oil equivalent a day, up 98 MBOED from a year ago. Chief Executive Ryan Lance said at a November analyst meeting, that will outline plans for free cash flow generation with competitive returns on capital and returns of capital. The company is expecting fourth-quarter production excluding Libya of 1,265 to 1,305 MBOED.
